The Head of Cloud Architecture and Operations will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring it is robust, scalable, secure, and efficient. This leadership position involves strategic planning, architecture design, implementation, and continuous optimization of our cloud operations. The successful candidate will lead a talented team of cloud engineers and collaborate closely with development teams to drive innovation and deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a cloud strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives, emphasizing scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
  • Architecture Design: Architect scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS to support our SaaS solution. Ensure architectural designs are aligned with best practices and business goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the operations of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of cloud engineers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure the infrastructure complies with relevant industry standards and security protocols. Proactively address security vulnerabilities and ensure data protection.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and optimize cloud spending to ensure efficient resource utilization without compromising on performance or security.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with AWS and other technology vendors. Negotiate contracts and manage service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends. Lead the adoption of innovative technologies that can provide competitive advantages.

Basic Qualifications
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent degree with strong information technology focus

  • 5+ years of experience working on large-scale, distributed applications leveraging cloud native  stacks of AWS including:

    • AWS cost optimization (FinOps) 

    • Management of  AWS accounts at scale (AWS Organization with SCPs, AWS Control Tower) 

    • Architecting AWS native applications, including Serverless (Lambda, Fargete) with a strong focus on security

  • Experience with operating a SaaS solution in production with  strong focus on security and reliability 

  • 3+ years of experience writing code in modern object-oriented programming languages such as Python/C#

  • 3+ years of experience in DevOps/GitOps practices

  • Experience in managing DevOps teams for a cloud native SaaS application

  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform and AWS SAM (Serverless Application Model)  

  • Experience with compliance management including successfully passing certifications such as ISO27001, SOC2 or NIS2

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing and operations

  • Ability to synthesize requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and facilitate engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Shop floor automation ecosystem and the manufacturing vertical in general

  • Experience in IIoT / Industrial Software / MES / Industrial Control,  (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, CodeSys) implementations

  • Security certifications such as  CISSP or  AWS Certified Security - Specialty

  • Experience with real-time operating systems and virtualization

  • Experience with  Amazon Partner Network (APN) programs: ACE, Fund Requests, MDF etc.
